              Explore ministry banner

Explore is Clayton Baptist Church’s children’s ministry through which we nurture our children showing Christ’s love to them. We do this through our Sunday morning sessions. Each child is welcomed in to a group; Seekers (0-3 years), Finders (4-7 years) or Keepers (8-11 years) with DBS checked leaders and helpers. Children take part in age appropriate activities and have a weekly ‘take away’ activity so that the lessons learned on Sunday can be built upon at home during the week. We all work together to encourage the children in their spiritual growth. It is our prayer that through this nurturing and love that the children will one day come to know Jesus Christ as their personal saviour.

All groups are part of the Dig Deep Academy and they follow a Clayton Baptist Church bespoke programme written in house. The course we provide seeks to encompass stories from the Old and New Testament, linking the theme back to God and Jesus each week. The three groups follow the same message and theme as each other, the programme repeats themes and stories in a cyclic nature so that the stories become part of each child's understanding and are truths that the children will treasure as they grow older.

At Clayton Baptist Church it is our firm belief that every child has the right to an environment in which they can flourish, where they are safe to be themselves and work alongside people who have their best interests at heart. We believe in transparency and safe guarding your children and also the adults who want to work with your child. We follow the guidelines set out in our safeguarding policy.

You can see a map on our contact us page

What should I expect when I visit the church?

Apart from the warm welcome, finding a seat is easy in our simple layout and there are plenty people to have a conversation with. We don't really have a set format, but the service will normally include singing, prayer, and a message based on the Bible with some time after the message to reflect by yourself or with those seated nearby as we learn and journey with each other.
'Explore' which is our kids ministry starts around 15 mins after the service starts and the kids will be led to their groups.

Refreshments are served after some services, and all the way through others. There is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the kids at church?

Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. The service leader will announce when the children need to go to their programme. You will need to go with your children and register them, the first time they attend.

For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
